Our first color guard clinic (of three) is happening here on campus at UWG tomorrow (Saturday, April 23rd). We’ll be working from 10AM to 3PM on the Academic Quad, which is located on W. Georgia Dr. between the Boyd, Pafford, and Humanities Buildings. If you have any issues finding it, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll help you out! If you can’t make it tomorrow, there are two other clinic opportunities: Saturday, May 28th and Saturday, June 25th. Go West! Go Band!!!

Friday, 4/15 – Drum Major conducting auditions (3PM – band room)
Any band member is eligible to apply for any leadership position, including Band Captain and Drum Major. To apply, please write a letter of application addressing which position(s) you would like to be considered for and why you think you would make a good leader in that/those position(s). Put your letter in an envelope and give it to Dr. Self anytime between now and Friday, April 8th. Other available positions include Drum Captain, Guard Captain, Brass Captain, WW Captain, and section leaders for each section.

Summer camp begin the first week of August (first day of classes is the 10th!). Camp dates have to go through housing and several other offices before they’re approved, so that’s not set in stone. Start talking with your friends and get them excited about this fall’s marching band – let’s make it the biggest marching band UWG has ever seen!!!

For those of you who 1) expressed interest during Orientation or 2) missed the first round of auditions in June we will be holding another round on July 14th from 9-1. Auditions will take place in front of the Humanities Building on UWG’s campus–WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!

Those auditioning for the UWG Drumline need to prepare warm-ups (available at http://uwgbands.com/about/marching-band/uwg-drumline/2012-audition-materials) as well as rudiments (flam drags, cheeses, paradiddles, paradiddlediddles, etc.). Students will also be expected to perform a very brief sight-reading. Please feel free to contact Dr. Byrd (firstname.lastname@example.org) at any time should you have any questions.
Note: CYMBALS WILL ONLY BE REQUIRED TO DEMONSTRATE SIGHT-READING AS WELL AS CYMBAL TECHNIQUES (CRASHES, SLIDES, CHOKES, ETC.). ONLY THOSE WISHING TO AUDITION FOR BASSES 1 AND 2 WILL BE ASKED TO DEMONSTRATE RUDIMENTS.
